At the meeting of their respective legislative bodies, the Vacaville Teachers Association and the Napa Solano Central Labor Council announce their opposition of the proposed closure of the Country High School campus.
“All kids deserve a great place to learn,” said Todd Blanset, the president of the Vacaville Teachers Association. “Country High students depend on their stable and supportive neighborhood school and we feel, strongly, that taking away their stable environment harms all of our students.”
The closure of Country High School was announced to employees of the Vacaville Unified School District via email on the 16th in the Reporter on the 18th. The latest version of the proposed plan would close the school and divide the students between Will C Wood and Vacaville High School.
“The board must provide fair and equitable resources, and opportunities for all students, including our students,” said Ariel Ray, an English Teacher at Country High School. “Our kids thrive in the specialized, supportive environment we provide for them and they will be devastated if our school is closed.”
