#RedForEd Tidal Wave Continues!

#RedForEd Day of Action
Thousands of educators and allies painted Sacramento and our Capitol #RedForEd and won a massive victory for students and public education (AB 1505 passed the Assembly floor!).
Check out the highlights from our historic #RedForEd Day of Action on May 22.
New Haven Educators on STRIKE!
Learn more about the historic strike (the longest one in recent history – today is Day 12 of the strike) and donate to their strike hardship fund if you can. You can share messages of support on social media, too. Any solidarity helps. Use the hashtags #WeAreNHTA and #ForOurStudents so educators on the strike line can see it!
#RedForEd on the 2020 California Ballot: Schools and Communities First
So important to have this CTA-endorsed initiative on your radar. The Schools and Communities First initiative will ensure that everyone pays their fair share by ending a decades-old loophole that has kept our students, schools and communities chronically underfunded. President Eric Heins said of the initiative: “Corporations have not only gotten an outrageous break at the expense of students and individual taxpayers, but many big companies have gamed the system to prevent fair reassessment when they transfer ownership of their properties.”
Learn more about the initiative here. More details and resources to come!
#RedForEd Shout-Outs & News

Retiring? Changing School Districts? Moving?

Retiring this school year?
You can continue a portion of your current, active CTA-endorsed Life Insurance from Standard Insurance Company (The Standard) if you maintain a CTA-NEA Retired Lifetime Membership and apply within 120 days of retirement. This is a limited-time opportunity. Apply now by calling The Standard’s CTA Customer Service Department which is listed below.
Changing school districts after this school year?
Your CTA-endorsed coverage from The Standard doesn’t transfer with you to your new district. To retain your coverage, you’ll need to reapply. You can do so with no health questions asked within 180 days of a district change or transfer. You may choose to continue your coverage at the current level or you can apply for new Disability Insurance coverage and up to $200,000 of Life Insurance if you would like to add or increase your coverage. To learn more or reapply, visit standard.com/cta/newhire.
Moving this summer? Call The Standard to update your home mailing address so we can keep our records up-to-date.
